Online Tajweed Course
Master the rules of Tajweed and recite the Quran with proper pronunciation and beautiful melody — just as Allah commanded in Surah Al-Muzzammil.
What Is Tajweed? — Definition and Importance
Tajweed (تَجْوِيد) means "to make better" or "to improve". In Quranic recitation, it refers to the set of linguistic and phonetic rules governing correct pronunciation of each Arabic letter and the proper application of recitation characteristics. Allah (SWT) commanded in the Quran: "…and recite the Quran with measured recitation" (Al-Muzzammil 73:4).
6 Key Components of Tajweed:
- 1.Makharij Al-Huruf — Articulation points of each letter
- 2.Sifaat Al-Huruf — Characteristics and qualities of letters
- 3.Noon Sakinah & Tanween — Rules for noon and tanween
- 4.Meem Sakinah — Rules for silent meem
- 5.Madd Rules — Lengthening of vowel sounds
- 6.Qawaid Al-Waqf — Rules for stopping and pausing
What Is Tajweed and Why Is It Important?
Tajweed is the science of reciting the Quran with precise pronunciation — giving each letter its right and due. It is considered Fard Kifayah (communal obligation) to know Tajweed, and Fard Ayn (individual obligation) to apply it when reciting. Reciting without Tajweed risks altering the meaning of the Quran, which scholars have consistently warned against throughout Islamic history.
Our online Tajweed course follows the traditional Hafs an Asim recitation method — the most widely used Qiraat in the Muslim world — and is taught by certified teachers with Ijazah chains traceable to the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ).
